Carney urges gun control action (Scott Goss)

The governor urged legislators on Wednesday (4/18) to hold an up-or-down vote on a slew of gun control bills awaiting action in the General Assembly. According to Mr. Carney, these bills are critical to enhancing public safety and reducing the risk of mass shootings. Although none of the bills in question “will solve the problem,” they will collectively be “a tool, which will help us to provide better safety in our schools and the streets of our communities.” The story goes on to rehash the details of the various bills, of which the “assault weapons ban” that the governor is reported to have “demanded” is “by far the most contentious.”
