Walkouts divide some schools in state, unite others

Story by Jessica Bies, Maddy Lauria, Jerry Smith & Karl Baker: Walkouts took place at mostly high schools in the state and beyond that nationwide. Some teachers, students, administrators, parents and allies walked out for 17 minutes at 10:00 AM – one minute for each of the victims of the Parkland school shooting in Florida. They were advocating for safer schools and gun control, as well as standing in solidarity with Florida students. Officials in the Seaford school district, etc. were allegedly not happy about it, although the quoted comments are mainly from students. There is also some coverage in this multi-school story about comments made at the walkout protests.
